At Beta Gym, we obviously love exercise. Whether you’re a regular in our workouts, play a recreational sport, or are active outside of a gym (running, hiking, etc.), there is no doubt physical activity has many health benefits.
If you want to maximize the benefits of exercise, nutrition is where to look next. It’s just as important as exercise, if not more so, to our overall health.
We love to describe nutrition to fuel. Our bodies all need fuel to run efficiently, especially when we are active. Without the proper nutrition, you can be left feeling sluggish, weak, or fatigued, meaning you’re unable to sustain physical activity.
Proper nutrition includes eating whole foods and a proper amount of carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Some foods that maximize the nutrients needed to thrive include the following:
- Dark leafy greens
- Berries
- Eggs
- Sweet potato
- Water (not a food, but hydration makes a key difference in your recovery, too)
